  21. Well ... don't ignore certain systems (albeit perhaps anomalies <grin>)
  22. like the Symbolics Lisp Machine. I used one for three years (from 1983
  23. to 1986) and still consider it to be the finest programming environment
  24. I have ever used - even by today's standards.

  26. Its features, clean windowing, outstanding compilation environment
  27. (with incremental compilation, integrated editor, debugger, etc.) and
  28. all the system tools interaction has not been cleanly duplicated in any
  29. other system/environment that I have used since then. At the time, I
  30. claimed that I could code applications about 3 to 5 times faster on the
  31. LM3600 than anything else I could find, and it is still probably true
  32. today.
